The Scots JV beat Pilot Rock JV 10-8 behind the pitching of Matt McGill and hitting of Thomas Moore. Matt left the game up 7 and ended up with the very rare win AND save hahahhaha. Thomas Moore carried the Scots at the plate with a 3-4 day and two RBI.

An inning in both games of a double header sank the TigerScots against Heppner 2-6 and 5-8. Defensive mishaps cost the Scots in the first game pitchers dual. Calvin Thacker got the Scots going at the plate with an RBI double but we dug ourselves too big of hole to come out of.
The Scots JV got off to a quick start against Pendleton but came up short in the end 6-4. We got on the board early with an RBI single by Nick Pease to score Deric Carson who also had singled. Defensively Chris Hamby made a good catch out in right field. On the day, Deric Carson went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a double, Calvin Thacker had a double, and Matt McGill had an RBI single. Pitching wise we left a couple balls up that allowed the Bucks to get a couple hits to score their runs. Overall, it was a well played game by both teams and it was good to see Coach Zander and Lambert!
On Tuesday, a classic pitchers dual between the Scots Casey Riddle and the Rockets Travis Copeland ended with a 2-0 Rocket victory. The only scoring occured in the 4th inning when the Rockets plated 2 runs on a triple and a couple singles.
The TigerScots threatened in the bottom of the 5th with 2 runners on and no outs. A failed bunt and doubling up a runner ended the tigerscot threat. Casey Riddle threw a terrific game, and along with the pitch calling of catcher Elliot Salter, only gave up 4 hits on the day along with 5 strikeouts. The Scots only managed 2 infield singleThe game lasted only an hour and twelve minutes as both pitchers threw strikes and the defense made plays. Offense--C- Tough pitcher but we also have good hitters. Defense--B+ A couple mishaps but came back well to not let them hurt us. Made several great plays and helped out Riddle on the mound. Pitching--A On saturday the TigerScots took to games from the Irrigon Knights 5-1 and 12-4...both league wins. Dallas Reich started on the hill for the first game and threw 3 solid innings then Matt McGill came in for the last 4 innings to close the door. Offensively we only had 3 hits (Bond, Lively, and Salter) but put pressure on the defense with solid at bats and hustle.
In Game 2 the bats got going, led by Calvin Thacker (3 RBI) and Dallas Reich (2 RBI) who had 3 hits apiece, the TigerScots notched a 13-4 victory. Elliot Salter and Drew Greenwalt each threw the ball effectively and were around the zone. Riley Sederberg and Deric Carson each had 2 hits and overall the Tscots banged out 13. Overall Pitching: B+--too many walks, yet around the zone all day. Hitting: C in first game...too many strike outs (however, I do think there were some quality at bats that ended in strike outs) B+ in second game Defensively: B couple plays that should be made but overall, much better fielding day. After multiple rained out games, the Scots were finally able to get on the diamond at Heppner but ended up losing 4-14 in their first league action of the season. After a long layoff, rust showed on the defensive side of the ball with 7 errors in 4 innings. This dug an early hole that the Scots couldn't get out of. In the 5th, with our backs against the wall, we battled at the plate and plated 4 runs on a key, 2 out at bat by Calvin Thacker to keep the inning alive, hits by Dallas Reich, 2 doubles by Elliot Salter and Aaron Speed. Overall, pitchers made Heppner put the ball in play but our defense (as a team) didnt make the plays that needed to be made. We play a home JV game this thursday against Pilot Rock.
