TigerScots JV played their first game today and showed signs of promise in their 11-4 victory at the TigerScot Diamond. Nick Lively got the start for the young Tscots and threw the ball excellent in his first start of high school baseball. He threw 4 scoreless innings and kept the ball low and threw strikes.
The TigerScots pounded out 16 hits on the day, helped by some Nixyaawi errors and miscues. DH Ron Terjeson got the tscots going with a shot to centerfield and would finish with 2 hits in 2 at bats and a couple RBI. Numerous players had multiple hits with Terjeson, Miles Thul, Nick Lively, Gary Kobasa, Deric Carson, and Gabe Quaempts. Some players were not able to get hits in the book but swung the bats and were agressive at the plate.
Pitching wise we were able to throw strikes and keep the ball down. As mentioned, Lively started and did well. Gary Kobasa saw his first action on the mound and threw strikes. Deric Carson followed him and finished off the game quick 1,2,3 7th inning.
Overall, the JV squad did a great job of swinging the bats and playing solid defense (only 1 error on the day). Baserunning continues to be sloppy and against better opponents will come back to haunt us.
Grade:
Offense: C+ (couple strike outs and non-situational hitting)
Defense: B (communication)
Pitching: C+ (a few too many walks as a unit)
